Review

***1/2
Deadly Choices by Karen Randau has everything you want in a mystery. It has a lot of heart, and love. It has characters who will stay with you long after you finish the book. It's a wonderful story. I have to say when I started reading it, I wasn't sure I was going to like it but the more I got in to it, the more I enjoyed it. Mrs. Randau did a wonderful job with this book. Once I got in to it, I could not put it down!

BLURB:

In book 3 of the Rim Country Mysteries, an elderly woman stumbles into the campsite as Rita, Cliff, and Rita’s long-lost mother Willow enjoy s’mores and folk music around the fire. The action heats up when Willow falls for the key suspect, Rita’s old friend and mentor. Rita discovers her mother isn’t the woman she thought she was, and Rita must overcome a spate of life-threatening obstacles
before anyone else dies.

EXCERPT:

“It’s illegal to leave the fire unattended,” I said. “And Cliff needs to get Lucy to the hospital.” I didn’t expect Willow’s cringe when I yanked my gun from under my tunic and pulled the slide to force a round into the chamber. “You can go with Cliff if you want, but I’d rather not be here alone. I’m not afraid to use this gun if I need to. Which I don’t expect to.”

“Willow, this could have been an accident.” Cliff jumped into the driver’s side of the Jeep and leaned his arm on the steering wheel. “Lucy’s student never walked through our camp. I’ve seen no cars drive by. The student parked somewhere else.”

Cliff glanced at the trailhead. “He might also be injured. To be extra cautious, Rita can get the rifle from the tent. You two sit back-to-back so you have a three-sixty degree view of your surroundings.”

Willow spun around. “But … wild animals . . . there was a gunshot.”

Cliff closed his door and opened the window. “I’ve seen Rita fight and shoot, and I can assure you that you’re safe with her. I’ll have to file a report, but I shouldn’t be more than an hour or two. I’ll let the county sheriff know he needs to activate the search and rescue team to find the student. Then I’ll be back.”

Cliff shifted into gear. “Willow, why don’t you use this time to tell Rita where you’ve been for the last twenty-five years?”

Review
****

I really enjoyed this book. It has everything a good book needs. Love, Danger and a mystery feel to it. James and Mac are very good together. The book had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The facebook post on this book said that if you like Nora Roberts you'll like Escanta and it could not have been more true. I you want a thrilling book with lovable characters, that you can't put down, then Escanta is for you!

In book two of The Three Sisters Island Trilogy, Heaven and Earth, Ripley Todd, Zack's sister, is a witch who refuses to use her powers after a tragedy that happened years ago. MacAllister Booke is a researcher who comes to the island to study rumors of witchcraft. There he meets Ripley and they fall in love. Before they can  even think of having a future together, they must face the past and an evil legend before it destroys all Ripley and Mac hold dear.

*****
Heaven and Earth is a story of love, forgiveness and redemption. The characters are so lovable and real. This is a story of beating the odds, of knowing that love is able to conquer everything. The reader will have a hard time putting this book down. They will read way into the night. Nora Roberts does it again.

Nora Roberts is my favorite author. I love all of her books but especially her trilogies. This is the third time I've read this book and it just gets better every time. I love the way Beckett falls in love, not only with Clare but also her three boys. I love the way the Montgomery brothers interact with each other and how they care for each other as well as there mom and when you add in the revamping of Inn Boonsboro and add a ghost story, it makes the book all that much more loveable. The characters are not only loveable but believable and if the world worked like the people in the story worked, the world would be a much better place to be.

This is the first tilogy by Nora Roberts that I ever read. It was years ago and every year in October I read it again. It's like a tradition. This is the trilogy that got me hooked on this particular author. In Dance Upon The Air, Nell Channing in on the run from an abusive husband. She comes to Three's Sisters Island, to heal. There she meets Zach Todd and she learns to love again. But there's a dark force that wants to control Nell and it's going to take all of Nell and Zack's love to destroy it.

If I could give Nora more than five stars I would because this trilogy is my all time favorite. It's a story of redemption and love that's older than time itself. It's a story of hope and forgiveness and gives the reader an all over good feeling.
I have joined Net Galley and hopefully will start getting ARC books to review here before long.
